EXTRAMEL® : MELON JUICE CONCENTRATE STANDARDISED IN SODIUM, CLINICALLY PROVEN TO REDUCE STRESS
Superoxide Dismutase (SOD) is a powerful antioxidant enzyme naturally present in the body, forming the first line of defence against free radicals. It is also found in large quantities in melon.
Extramel® is a melon juice concentrate from a unique variety of Cantaloupe melon grown in the south of France and standardised for Super Oxide Dismutase (SOD). Extramel® is manufactured using a gentle, environmentally-friendly process involving only mechanical steps, without the use of solvents or additives.
A patented technology for encapsulating Extramel® melon concentrate protects it from degradation caused by gastric acidity, in order to preserve its bioactivity and increase the concentration of SOD in the body. Extramel® has proven its effectiveness in improving stress management and reducing its negative effects on our daily lives.
An initial randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involving 70 people aged between 30 and 55 showed that supplementation with 10 mg of Extramel® (i.e. 140 IU* of SOD) for 4 weeks improved perceived stress by 22% (PSS-14 scale, self-assessment questionnaire) and quality of life by 23% (SF-12 scale, self-assessment questionnaire)1.
A second randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of 61 people aged between 29 and 60 confirmed these results and also showed an improvement in mental (+21%) and physical (9%) fatigue after 84 days2.
