MicrobiomeX® : registered extract of orange and grapefruit, standardised in hesperidin and naringin, with clinically proven effectiveness
MicrobiomeX® is a proprietary extract combining orange and grapefruit, standardised with hesperidin and naringin, two specific active flavonoids. This unique complex has been specifically designed to support immune defences and gut health. It works by beneficially altering the composition of the gut microbiome, reducing gut inflammation and strengthening the gut barrier.
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial in 50 overweight patients with altered microbiota showed that daily supplementation with 500 mg of MicrobiomeX® for 12 weeks significantly altered the composition of short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), compounds that play an essential role in maintaining the intestinal barrier and regulating the immune system, by directly affecting the alteration of the microbial composition of the gut. In particular, there was a significant increase in the proportion of butyrate to total SCFAs.
In addition, a strong trend towards reduced levels of faecal calprotectin, a biomarker of intestinal inflammation, was observed compared to placebo1.
The same clinical study demonstrated that MicrobiomeX® significantly increased the secretion of antibodies (IgA) in the intestinal lumen, thus providing better protection against colonisation by pathogens and viruses1.
