Bifidobacterium animalis spp lactis Bifidobacterium animalis spp lactis BS01 is a bifidobacterium belonging to the phylum, i.e. group, of Actinobacteria.

Bifidobacterium animalis spp lactis is the bacterium most frequently found in fermented dairy products. Isolated in 1997, this bifidobacterium is classified as a Gram-positive bacteria. Furthermore, this bacterium has the ability to grow in the complete absence of oxygen.

Bifidobacterium animalis spp lactis has an anti-inflammatory activity. Indeed, the consumption and fermentation of lactose, a source of energy, is the "guilty pleasure" of this bacterium. The latter then produces short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs), including butyrate and propionate. These molecules are used as a source of energy by our colon cells. This production of SCFAs, combined with the acidification caused by the development of Bifidobacterium animalis spp lactis, has the beneficial effect of creating an unfavourable environment for the development of Enterobacteriaceae, Gram-negative bacteria usually responsible for infectious colitis.

In conclusion, Bifidobacterium animalis spp lactis promotes the development of immune cells. It also has a beneficial effect on food and respiratory allergies and associated intestinal and pulmonary manifestations.
