PROMUNEL^® : A STANDARDISED PROPOLIS EXTRACT OBTAINED BY A PATENTED EXTRACTION PROCESS WITH CLINICALLY PROVEN EFFICACY ON COUGH AND COLD SYMPTOMS

A resinous substance collected by bees from the buds and bark of trees, propolis is used, among other things, to protect the hive against pathogenic micro-organisms. Propolis has antiseptic properties that enable it to exert antibacterial, bacteriostatic, antiviral and antifungal actions. It also helps to modulate the immune system and regulate the inflammatory response.

The registered extract of Promunel^® propolis is a standardised extract resulting from a patented extraction process which makes it possible to obtain an intact, complete, well-characterised polyphenolic complex naturally present in propolis.

Its efficacy has been clinically demonstrated: a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled clinical trial involving 122 people with symptoms of viral or bacterial upper respiratory tract infection who were given 12 to 24 mg of polyphenols a day for 5 days showed that¹ :

• A reduction in symptoms of 83% after 3 days in the treated group vs. 28% in the placebo group.
• Remission in all treated patients after 5 days, i.e. 2 days less than in the placebo group.
