Fertility and ovarian function are fundamental aspects of the female reproductive system. The ovaries play a crucial role in regulating the menstrual cycle and producing eggs, the reproductive cells necessary for conception. Each month, during ovulation, one of the ovaries releases a mature egg: it is precisely at this moment that the egg is ready to be fertilized. However, high insulin levels, often associated with insulin resistance and abnormally high blood glucose levels, can disrupt hormonal balance, leading to irregular menstrual cycles, ovulation disorders, and symptoms such as acne, excessive hair growth, and weight gain. For women, insulin resistance is particularly concerning, as it is linked to conditions such as gestational diabetes and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Gestational diabetes affects about 10% of pregnancies, while PCOS affects 5% to 10% of women of reproductive age, and both are exacerbated by insulin resistance. Inositols are sugars that exist in nine possible structures (isomers), naturally found in various foods such as citrus fruits, cabbage, nuts, and melon, and are also present in breast milk. These inositols are also endogenous, meaning they are naturally produced by our body. Among the 9 isomers of inositols, two are of particular interest: Myo-inositol (MI) and D-Chiro-inositol (DCI).
The myo-inositol, which is part of phospholipids, is present in cell membranes. It is the main form of inositol in the body. Its multiple health benefits make it a valuable component. Myo-inositol can then be transformed into D-chiro-inositol in the body.
The interest in these inositols mainly lies in their ability to act synergistically to maximize their health benefits, particularly in ovarian function, where they are naturally present.

  • Aronia

Aronia (Aronia melanocarpa) is a shrub native to North America, known for its dark purple-black berries that are particularly rich in bioactive compounds. These fruits concentrate a high level of polyphenols, particularly anthocyanins and flavonoids, with antioxidant properties. Thanks to its richness in polyphenols, aronia is a valuable source of bioactive compounds. Its properties make it a preferred ingredient in various formulations.
PHYSIOMANCE® SOPK provides 75 mg of aronia extract, equivalent to 300 mg of dry plant, for 6 capsules.

Micronutrient complex: Chromium, vitamins B9 and B12

Vitamin B12 and vitamin B9, or folic acid, are part of the B vitamin complex, classified as "water-soluble" (soluble in water). They are not stored by the body, making it crucially important to ensure regular intake through diet or supplementation.

  • Vitamin B9, or folic acid, is mainly found in green leafy vegetables, which is why it is called "folic," derived from the Latin "folium" meaning "leaf." Lettuce and spinach are exceptional sources of this vitamin. It is also found in significant amounts in cereals, certain cheeses, and the livers of animals such as lamb, veal, and poultry. Vitamin B9 plays a key role in the folate cycle, which is a crucial biological process for many bodily functions. The folate cycle is a process in which vitamin B9 is converted into different active forms usable by the body. The most active and functional form of vitamin B9 in the human body is called 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, abbreviated as MTHF.
  • Vitamin B12, also known as cobalamin, is found almost exclusively in animal-derived products, so it is necessary for individuals with a strict vegan diet to supplement with vitamin B12. Organ meats, such as beef and poultry liver, are among the richest sources of vitamin B12. It is also found in significant quantities in fatty fish such as salmon and mackerel, red meats, eggs, and dairy products, especially aged cheeses and yogurts. Vitamin B12 plays a fundamental role in numerous biological processes, including the methylation cycle, an essential metabolic pathway involved in gene expression regulation, the production of neurotransmitters, and the synthesis of red blood cells. In its biologically active form, methylcobalamin, it is involved in amino acid metabolism and contributes to the optimal functioning of the nervous system.

In its picolinate form, its bioavailability is optimized, allowing for effective absorption by the body. It thus contributes to the maintenance of normal blood sugar levels by enhancing the action of insulin, a key hormone in managing sugars and blood glucose.
