The recommended daily intake for good intestinal transit is around 30 to 45 g of soluble and insoluble fibre per day. The health authorities advise eating at least 5 fruits and vegetables every day for a sufficient intake of fibre, minerals and vitamins. Unfortunately, we do not eat enough fibre. In a century, fibre consumption has risen from 30/35 g per day to 15 or 20 g. Our current diet provides little fibre.
