ETAS® : AN INNOVATIVE STANDARDISED EXTRACT OF ASPARAGUS STALK

ETAS® is a standardised extract obtained from the lower part of the asparagus stalk (Asparagus officinalis) using a specific solvent-free extraction process.

 

ETAS® has the unique ability to induce the production of heat shock protein 70 (HSP70), a stress response protein.

 

Heat shock proteins (HSPs) are so-called "chaperone" proteins, which means that their function is to assist other proteins in their maturation, avoiding the formation of aggregates that make them non-functional. It is known that proteins must be "folded" to function properly. HSPs repair unfolded proteins or promote their breakdown if they cannot be repaired.

 

The expression of HSPs is induced to protect cells against the deleterious effects of stress, whatever the cause - nutritional, biochemical, viral, etc. However, the body's ability to produce HSPs in response to stressors of all kinds decreases with age.

ETAS® has been the subject of numerous in vitro, in vivo rodent and human clinical studies. Its beneficial effects are mainly due to its ability to induce the expression of HSP70.

 

ETAS® owes its efficacy to several active ingredients that have been identified for their HSP70-inducing effect: asfural, derived from hydroxy-methyl furfural (HMF), as well as a group of compounds derived from Asparagus, the 3-alkyldiketopiperazines, containing proline and named "Asparaprolines".
