Native to northern Europe, the blackcurrant is a small tree measuring between 0.80 and 1.60 metres in height. It has small fruits falling in clusters, five-lobed leaves with serrated edges and corolla flowers. The leaves are harvested in June, the buds are harvested in early spring and the fruit is harvested when ripe.
